REVISION OF AERONAUTICAL METEOROLOGICAL CODES

Annex 3 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, which contains the international standards and recommended practices for Meteorological Service to Aviation has been amended by amendment 69. Amendment 69 has introduced extensive changes to the codes METAR, SPECI and TAF. These are contained in ICAO Annex 3, 11th edition.

The new codes have come into operation with effect from 1 July, 1993 in India except for the deviation indicated here-in-below. Details of new coding practices are available in all the Class I aeronautical meteorological offices in India. The national deviation from the international recommended practice is as follows :

FM 15 Ext METAR and FM 16 Ext SPECI Code.
